Questions, bug reports, or feature ideas — I’d love to hear from you.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a rotation-based split different?

Most trackers pin workouts to days of the week, so missing Tuesday leaves a hole you feel obliged to fix. GymLoop tracks your position in the cycle instead. Your next workout is whatever follows the last one you actually completed — skipping a day shifts nothing.

I have not trained in a couple of weeks. What happens?

GymLoop notices the gap and offers a full-body reset day to ease you back in. Accept it and the reset is queued; once it is done, the app returns you to your normal rotation automatically. Reset days deliberately do not move your position in the cycle.

Does it sync between my iPhone and iPad?

Your training history syncs through your own private iCloud account, so it follows you across devices signed into the same Apple ID. It goes between you and Apple — GymLoop has no server, so it never reaches me.

What exactly does GymLoop read from Apple Health — and does it write anything?

It reads two things and only when you turn it on: your latest body weight, and workouts recorded elsewhere such as your Apple Watch. It writes nothing at all to Health, on purpose — a phone-logged session has no heart rate or calories, so writing it back would clutter your Fitness rings with hollow entries and duplicate what your Watch already recorded.

Do I have to grant Health access?

No. It is off by default and the app works completely without it. You can revoke it later in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.

Where do my progress photos go?

Onto your device, and into your own private iCloud if sync is enabled. Never to us — there is no server to send them to.

Can I use the app in the gym with no signal?

Yes. GymLoop is offline-first and makes no network requests of its own, so a dead spot in the basement squat rack changes nothing.

What is free, and what needs Pro?

The core loop is free and stays free: your workouts and rotation, the split editor, the last 30 days of history, the heatmap and streaks, the BMI card, reminders, Siri Shortcuts, home-screen widgets, and iCloud sync. Pro adds unlimited history, the Trends dashboard, the progress-photo studio, custom body measurements, Apple Health workout import, and Live Activity with Lock Screen widgets.

How much does Pro cost?

$2.99 per month, $19.99 per year with a 7-day free trial, or $49.99 once for lifetime access with no subscription. Those are US prices — the App Store shows your local currency.

How do I cancel my subscription or free trial?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside GymLoop. On your iPhone open Settings → your name → Subscriptions, tap GymLoop, and choose Cancel Subscription. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before your free trial or current period ends. Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

What happens to my training history if my subscription ends?

Nothing is deleted and nothing is hidden from you permanently. Older history collapses behind the unlock row, and every set of it returns the moment you resubscribe. Your data is yours — it stays on your device and in your own iCloud either way.

I bought Pro but it is not showing up.

Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID you purchased with, then use Restore Purchases in Settings. If it still does not appear, email me and I will sort it out.

Can I change the split, or add my own exercises?

Yes — the default is Push / Pull / Legs, but you can restructure the days and the exercises in each, and set your own target sets, reps, and rest.
