Privacy Policy — Fold Terminal

This privacy policy describes how Fold Terminal (“the app”) handles your information. The short version: Fold Terminal does not collect any data about you. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The app only connects to the servers you add.

What we collect

Nothing. Fold Terminal has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it has no backend server of its own. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.

What stays on your iPhone

Servers, snippets and settings are stored locally on your device.

Passwords and private keys are stored only in the iOS Keychain on this device, marked as device-only. They are not synced to iCloud and are not included in backups in readable form. Secure Enclave keys can never leave the device.

What you type and what servers send back — keystrokes, commands and output — is never logged, stored or sent anywhere except to the server you’re connected to. Recent commands used for suggestions are kept in memory only and are cleared when the app closes.

Connections

Fold Terminal opens network connections only to the servers you add, using SSH. It has no backend server of its own.

Apple Intelligence and voice

The optional Ask and Explain features use Apple’s on-device language model. Fold Terminal does not use Private Cloud Compute or any other server for these features. Voice input uses on-device speech recognition; audio is not recorded, stored or sent. Microphone and speech recognition permissions are requested only when you first tap the microphone.

Face ID

If you turn on Face ID lock, authentication is handled entirely by iOS. Fold Terminal is told only whether authentication succeeded — your biometric data is never available to the app.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. Fold Terminal receives only Apple’s signed confirmation of what you own, to unlock features. We never see your payment details and receive no personal information about you from the transaction. Purchases are subject to Apple’s standard Terms of Use (EULA).

Children’s privacy

Fold Terminal does not collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
