Frequently asked questions

Will my fast keep tracking if I close the app?

Yes — your fast is tracked from its start time, so you can close the app (or even restart your phone) and your progress will be accurate when you come back. That's rather the point: the ring, elapsed time, and current stage live on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, so most days you never need to open the app at all.

Can I end a fast without unlocking my phone?

Yes. The Live Activity on your Lock Screen lets you end a fast in place, and it keeps running through fasts as long as 36 hours.

I forgot to start my fast on time — can I fix it?

Yes, you can backdate a fast in two taps, so your history and streaks stay accurate even if you tapped Start a little late.

Which fasting protocols are supported?

Presets for 16:8, 18:6, 20:4, OMAD (23:1), and 36-hour fasts, plus any custom length you want.

Does my data sync between my devices?

If you have iCloud enabled, your history syncs through your own private iCloud account. It goes between you and Apple — FastRing has no server, so it never reaches me. You can turn sync off in iOS Settings.

What's free, and what does the Lifetime Unlock add?

The full timer, every preset, and your last 7 days of history are free, always. The one-time Lifetime Unlock adds unlimited history, recurring schedules, Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, stage notifications, and CSV / JSON export. There's no subscription.

Are the fasting stage notes medical advice?

No. FastRing is a timer, not a medical device. The stage notes describe commonly cited timelines, not guidance for your body — talk to a qualified healthcare professional before starting any fasting regimen.

How is my data handled?

There's no account, no analytics, and no third-party anything. See the privacy policy for details.
